WILSON, Littell Edward

Littell Edward Wilson

September 9, 1924 – January 17, 2019

Littell Wilson, a native Washingtonian, was born September 9th, 1924, the son of Alexander Hamilton Wilson and Isabelle Murphy Wilson. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17th at age 94 after leading a full and happy life.

His devotion to his family and his Catholic faith were paramount in his life accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Monica Peach Wilson of Ellicott City, MD; his parents; his two brothers Alexander Hamilton Wilson, Jr. and James Montgomery Wilson; and his sister Mary Louise Troy. He is survived by his wife Janet M. Wilson of Chevy Chase, MD; his sisters Marguerite Wilson Cosgrove and Donna Wilson Slingluff; his four children, Mary Wilson Stanley and husband Drew of Atlanta, GA, Josephine Wilson Traino and husband David of Vero Beach, FL, Littell Edward Wilson, Jr. and wife Callie of San Francisco, CA, and Francis Hamilton Wilson and wife Julie of Silver Spring, MD; and his stepchildren Kristine Miller McGehee of Bethesda, MD and Kent Miller of San Francisco, CA. Littell leaves behind a huge and loving family which includes 14 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 7 great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

Littell was a member of St. Bernadette Parish and a lifetime member of Columbia Country Club.

He was the consummate gentleman, an avid golfer, a savvy bridge player and, above all, a family man who had nothing but good to offer to everyone he met. When asked his recipe for his unfailingly positive happiness, Littell always said that his secret to a happy life was getting at least nine hugs every day. Those who knew him are quite sure that on most days he garnered way more than that.

Littell graduated from Georgetown Prep in 1942.  He served in the United States Navy at the end of WWII as an engineer on the bridge of the USS Collett in the Pacific. He completed his education at Cornell University and Catholic University in Electrical Engineering. His career spanned almost 50 years, working at Walter C. Doe & Company, Enertron and finally for the Architect of the Capital, updating the electrical systems at some of Washington, DC’s most historical buildings, including the U.S. Capitol and the Senate Office Building.

The family is particularly grateful to the staff at Riderwood and Holy Cross Hospice who supported and cared for Littell in his final years.

Friends are invited to call at Francis Collins Funeral Home in Silver Spring (Valet Parking) on Monday, January 21st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 22nd at 10:30 am. PERUCCI, Deanna Michele

Deanna Michele Perucci (Age 24)

At age 24, Deanna Michele Perucci passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019; beloved daughter of parents Philip and Marian Perucci; sister of Suzanne Perucci. Also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Deanna received a BA in English Language & Literature and a Master’s in Education, both from the University of Maryland, College Park. She was elected into the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta. She advocated an immersive learning approach, which she described as follows:

“Rather than teaching in a purely lecture-based setting, I strive to be a catalyst for higher-level thinking that fosters student-led discussions and enables students to reach their own conclusions”

In her professional life, Deanna’s enthusiasm for teaching was well received by both staff and students, and was extremely rewarding for Deanna. Most recently, she was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher at Herbert Hoover Middle School in Potomac, MD.

In her personal life, Deanna was especially fond of the beach, sun-bathing, Disney World, cooking, reading and music. Deanna had a particular “knack” for cooking; she enjoyed cooking, and those lucky enough to enjoy her food were invariably pleased!

Deanna was especially gifted with a great deal of charm and charisma, always being eager to truly understand others and help in any way she could. As a wonderful daughter, sister and girl-friend at the time of her untimely passing, the loss of Deanna impacted a surprisingly large number of people. Still, it is safe to say that – for those who really knew Deanna – she would want us to treasure the time we had with her, but not despair in her absence.

Relatives and friends may call at St. Peter’s Church, 2900 Sandy Spring Road, Olney, MD, Monday, January 21, from 4 to 7 p.m.; where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 22, at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Deanna, it was a pleasure to have known you; we will miss you!
